Quilts

I love to sew. I don't have a lot of time to do it, but I do try to catch snippets of time~ every couple of weeks or so, to get in a bit of sewing. It's good for that creative side of me that can so easily get buried.

Here is a quilt I finished in the fall:

and this is the one I'm working on right now for Audra:

Now if I could just find the perfect fabric for the back, I could finish it!

  1. Stacy,
Those quilts are just beautiful!!!! I love them! I need to indulge myself in a little sewing too. I have an apron that needs to be done. :) It seems I always am hemming pants for Isaiah's short legs instead of getting to do something more creative. lol.

  4. I love the colors and patterns for Audra's quilt. And yes, mama's need to have those creative outlets. I'm glad you found some time to do this.

  7. Wow!!! My mom bought me a new sewing machine and a quilting book for Christmas - I can't wait to get started on a project!!! Any pointers?

  8. Stacy! How funny! I just took a break from the quilt I've been working on for Anna to check email since the girls are resting... I love the ones you've been doing! I finally set up my sewing machine at our dining room table so I could be in the same room as the girls while they play (it's impossible to work in the office when they're up as it's a perpetual state of disaster). Can't wait to see what you decide on for Audra's quilt.

  9. Wow, I love those. I haven't a quilting clue, though I'd love one. Yours are beautiful.

Praying for you and the orphan dolls.

  10. Beautiful! I love sewing, too, and embroidery, but it is so hard to find the time. It is worth it when I do find a moment, though. :-)

  11. I have a quilt I started for Jonah over 6 years ago that I never finished. Many reasons, one being a broken machine. I was just recently given a machine that is practically new....I actually get it this Tuesday. Very excited. PLus in our new house I have a whole room with a huge flat service for my projects. Looking forward using that space.

They are beautiful by the way...thanks for the inspiration.

  12. Love them! I just finished sewing quilts for my daughters that look similar to Audras. It was so time consuming and a lot of work, but so worth it! I love that they are snuggling each night with something mommy made for them! :)

  14. Wow~ thanks for all the quilt love. :)

Tracy~ I have some pants to hem for my Isaias' short legs, too!

Annie~ Simple is good. My goal, someday~ is to make twin sizes for the kids' beds. By the time I get to it, though~ they likely won't want one. :)

Stacey~ Just have fun and don't be *too* much of a perfectionist! :)

Colleen~ That's so fun, Colleen! I didn't know you quilted, too! I want to see pictures, now! Good move to move out the sewing machine.

Sandi~ I am jealous about your "whole room". FUN!

Kara~ Yes, I love that, too~ all snuggled up in something you put so much love and work into! Good job, mama!

  15. Those are beautiful! My mom and aunts are quilters, and I'm about to finish my first "real" one. It's a baby gift for a coworker. I'm still trying to figure out why my mom started me with triangles instead of squares - points are so hard to match!!!

  17. I also am impressed -- not only at your creativity, but that you find time and energy to finish these. It's also been fun for me to help you arrange the squares.

    Loving you,
    Mark
