I never meant to stop blogging.  I've always been fond of this quiet little space here.  Over the years it's become a file cabinet for me-- a place to store favorite recipes, memories, photos, ideas, school plans, book lists, struggles and joys.  Like my own little bullet journal, but less listy and more chatty.

And then our camera broke, so I had no access to photos except for the ones on my phone, which aren't great photos.

Readers kept reading but stopped commenting, and while that shouldn't matter and I wish it didn't, it does.

And life is busy, and time is short.

So I eventually stopped.

I joined Instagram, (yes, seven whole years late to the party) thinking maybe I'll do that instead, (and upon getting there my first thought was, "Oh.  So THIS is where everyone went."  I really was dumbfounded; I hadn't known it was such a thing.  I understand the draw of it- short, snippets of life caught in photos.  But honestly it's not my favorite format.  I like words over photos.  I prefer a blog post to an Instagram post.

Anyway.  This isn't a post to officially announce that I've stopped blogging.

And it isn't a post to say that I'm officially back to writing here in this space.

But suddenly I have three topics percolating in my mind and I may just write them.  I don't know if anyone will read or comment, but I want to put those words somewhere so it may as well be here, adding it to these files.

  1. I will read anything you write!! I have been reading more blogs lately and playing with the thought of blogging again. I miss the long form and slowness of blogging. There was a little community in blogging and although there can be on IG it's different. I love words and I love the photos too. I feel reluctant these days with putting words out there because cyber space has become such a dumping ground for SO much clutter and noise especially FB. I can get discouraged by it all sometimes. Yet, filling that space with hope, joy and honesty is a good thing. I hope you write your thoughts. Maybe it will give me the courage to do the same. Loved the pics of your big girl on IG!

    1. Awe! So fun to see your comment here. The "long form and slowness" is definitely one of the things I miss, AND that sweet blogging community of moms was a real thing back in 2006 when I started blogging. Love to you, dear.

  2. I'm still reading after all these years! I hope you continue writing. I am always encouraged by you! I have so many great books that we have read because of your recommendations and so many fun things we did when we were homeschooling was because of you sharing. Thank you! ♥

  7. So happy to see you write again. I have many similar thoughts about my blogging in Central Asian Living...it has gotten scarce, but it is a "file cabinet". I love your writing, your book lists, recipes, memories!

  9. You know, I stopped doing social media and reading blogs a while back, but I've still always checked in here because I feel we are kindred spirits. I've missed you when you were away, and I'd hate to see you stop altogether. Of course, I'd understand if you needed to stop, but selfishly I would miss reading your posts. :) We need to exchange email addresses if you decide to stop writing. Glad to see you back!
