Two more weeks...

I have barely two weeks before we start up school again for the year. [And, can I just say...? I can't wait to dive back in!]

A few months ago I was inspired by Kendra's method of getting everything organized for the entire year at the start of the year.

I've been slowly plugging away at getting things ready, but now with two weeks left, it's crunch time.

I thought I'd let you know that I am taking some time away from the blog~ since I'll be typing, copying and organizing instead!

  1. I, too, am inspired by Kendra's method but haven't opted to do it this year...
I'm really excited about school starting too! We've been slowly working into our routine at our house and have started math for the first time with the boys! Still trying to decide if we will begin a grammar curriculum this year...

Have fun getting ready, Stacy!! Your kids will be so blessed by your preparedness!

  2. Have fun with that! I love planning, thinking of all the things we will do with every belief that we will do it.

Have I told you that we have decided to call September a summer month this year and begin once we return from our big vacation with the Rensinks? I love not feeling the crunch right now!

  4. Have fun. I love planning and organizing. Everything in it's place ready to go. Now keeping it that way is my problem!

I'm doing the same thing over here. Just trying to figure out if I plan the whole year or quarters.

We are already on our school routine to get everyone on the ball but not doing "full" school. My middle man cannot handle too much freedom and changes have to be eased into.

Would love to see some of your plans when your done. I like getting ideas. :o)

  5. I hope Kendra's method is a blessing to you Stacy. I am amazed at all that you do normally in your school year. May God bless you dear friend.

  6. I guess you could say that Kendra's method overwhelmed me. I can't imagine having every.single.thing. planned out for the whole year. Now, I do like the basic principal of planning that she incorporates - getting what you plan planned all the way down to the photocopies. I like that. So I did that. For the 8 weeks I have planned. :) That is a more manageable amount of time for me - me the one who is kind spontaneous and has a hard time committing to what exactly I will be doing on week 27... :) I prefer to plan as I go and see what is working and what is not. And to evaluate where we are and adapt accordingly. If I put all the time and resources into planning a whole year out, I think I would feel obligated to stick to it even if it wasn't working for us. "We will do these worksheets because I photocopied them, darnit" - yeah, don't want to ever hear that coming out of my mouth! LOL!

But hey, whatever works for you, right? Good luck on the beginning of your school year, sweet Mama!

I will be coming back often for the encouragement I always seem to find here. :)

P.S. I am back in the saddle - having come out of a blogging retirement! Come on by!

  7. Stacey,
I think I'm a lot like you. I'm much more relaxed and "go with the flow", normally- and I don't usually like to be locked into something.

The organizing-for-the-whole-year that I'm working on right now is primarily for our History. I love it, I *know* we're going to do it for the whole year, and the photocopies and organization is for that. I'm more loosely organizing everything else, but with freedom to change/choose/stop/reconfigure. :)

  11. Okay, I think I have fixed it. Try on the link that is with this comment only - the one beside my pic of me and Tim.
I deleted the old profile so this one should only take you to my ameasureofgrace profile.

(all of this was due to a wrong email address...ugh.)

    Thanks!
