On the menu for tonight: Taco Salad

This is the most scrumptious Taco Salad you'll ever have:

Taco Salad

Brown 1 lb hamburger, drain
Add:
1 can kidney beans
1/2 onion
1/2 green pepper
1/2 package prepared italian dressing
(Marinate overnight)*

When ready to eat, add:
olives
8 dashes tabasco sauce
1/2 bottle chili sauce
1 package Doritos**
1 head lettuce
3-4 tomatoes
4 oz. shredded cheese
1 avocado
the rest of the dressing

Top with a dollop of sour cream and enjoy!

*I am rarely organized enough to marinate this overnight. But it's just as good if you marinate it for an hour before you eat it! :)

**I suppose you could use regular tortilla chips but we always splurge on the Doritos for this salad.
One more thing: if you think you'll have leftovers, I suggest that you do not mix it all together. Keep the ingredients separate. It can get a little soggy in the fridge overnight.

Do let me know if you try this out. I'd love to know if you like it as much as we do!

  1. yum! i have a similar recipe:

1 pkg salad mix (lettuce only)
1 lb turkey or hamburger ( prepared with taco seasoning packet)
    1 tomato chopped
    shredded cheddar cheese
    Western dressing (to taste)
    Doritos....crunched over top

Mix and enjoy. I like a lot of dressing.....

My guests go crazy over it. :)

    Blessings,

  5. I love this salad when you make it. I wonder if it would taste as good to me if I made it though?

  6. I'll have to try this. For the sauce in our taco salad, we usually mix 1/2 salsa with 1/2 mayo. Even though it might sound weird, it's really good, and lots of people are surprised by how much they like it!
