A few of my favorite things

Because it is Thanksgiving week...
And because I am thankful for *you*, dear readers...

..A drawing!

First ever! And I'm very excited.

I decided awhile ago that I would like to have a drawing on my blog. The question was: What should I give? The best "theme" I could come up with was to give a few of my favorite things.

I liked the idea of sending something handmade or homemade, but most of what I make in the realm of "homemade" is food. And while I love food and would love to share food, it would be difficult to mail.

Since I love to cook, I thought about sending you my favorite cook book. But I don't actually have a favorite. I pick and choose my recipes from all sorts of sources, not from one particular book. So that was out.

I love to read, and considered sending you one of my favorite books, but then... what if you've already read it? Or what if you don't like the type of books that I do? That wouldn't be much fun.

I thought of yarn, candles, or bubble bath, but decided against those.

I briefly considered a gift card from Amazon, but that is so impersonal I immediately crossed that off the list.

I finally settled on these two things:

The item on the left is one of the Seeds Family Worship CDs. I discovered these CDs several months ago, and we LOVE them around our house. Each song is upbeat, catchy, and straight from Scripture. I find myself reaching for these Seeds CDs often. Because I like 'em just as much as my children do. We own a lot of Scripture memory CDs, but this series is hands-down my favorite. So, for you (and your kids, if you have them)... one of these.

The second item is one of Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day products. I was introduced to Mrs. Meyer's a few months ago when I entered a contest over at Jewel's Eyes of Wonder blog. And I won! I received a package containing some of these products. And can I just say... I LOVE THEM. They just smell *good*. I have the Liquid Dish Soap by my sink and I find I always use it to wash my hands because I just love the scent so much. So for you... some lavender hand soap from Mrs. Meyers.

But I can't send a gift without some sort of food. And I think we've all already established that we like chocolate. So the third item YOU get to choose. Tell me your favorite kind of chocolate, and I'll include that in with the gift. When you enter this drawing, by leaving a comment with your name, make sure to list your favorite chocolate treat. (Tell me what kind you like and I'll do my best! Having said that, please make it semi-easy on me and don't tell me about some chocolate you want that I have to order from Belgium or something, okay?)

I'll draw a name next Friday, November 30th, and announce the winner then. If you win, you'll get the Seeds Family Worship CD, the Mrs. Meyer's hand soap, and the chocolate of your choice.

And a Happy Thanksgiving to you!

  1. Eeek! I am first!
    I love this idea!

You are so SO thoughtful. We love scripture songs, I am sure we would love Seeds!

My favorite chocolate treat is ghiradelli milk chocolate with caramel.

  2. A wonderful drawing! The gifts sound wonderful! I love really any kind of chocolate. But I guess one of my favorites is the lindt brand of chocolate, any kind except hazelnut.
Here's to thanksgiving... we get to have all our kids with us on Friday to celebrate, including the four new ones who will be coming soon!

  3. Yay, Stacy! I am sooooo excited! Ummmm... my favorite chocolate? Wellllll..... Hmmmmmm..... Wow, this is a hard one. OK, I'll choose one (and thanks for throwing this in, by the way!). I love Toblerone bars. They are Swiss, I believe, but yes - you can find them in the local grocery store. :) They are triangle shaped and I like the original version, though I am going to branch out and try the others soon. And I only eat these at Christmas-time, so it really is a treat. So PICK ME! PICK ME! :) What a fun idea, Stacy. Those other 2 prizes look awesome, too. If I don't win (sob) could you let me know how I could get my hands on them? Thanks, my friend! Happy Thanksgiving ~ may it be rich with joyful thanks of all of God's abundant blessings in your lives! Give your kiddos squeezes for me! And tell Mark hi. (You can just squeeze him for yourself.) Love you!

  4. Oh how neat! What great prizes! Please enter me! My favorite chocolate treat is M&M's :-D

  5. You are the "funnest" :-)
I love anything white chocolate! Happy Thanksgiving dear Stacy.

  6. What a *fantastic* drawing!!
    I'm in!
    Happy Thanksgiving, Stace.

  7. Stacy,
How fun, I have been wanting to try some of Mrs. Meyers products, and just haven't gotten around to ordering yet. Anyway, I love anything Dark Chocolate! Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving!!

  8. OOOOOooo! Count me in! Been reading your blog for some time and always uplifted after reading.
I'm so sad Jewels is no longer blogging, too. Wasn't that a beautiful place on the net?
    Dove dark chocolate... YUM!
    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

  9. What a great idea, friend! And so generous!

As you know, I'm not a big fan of chocolate.

Ha! I love it all, in every shape and every size. My current favorite is a dark chocolate and raspberry bar I found at Target, but coming in a close second is Dove Dark Chocolate.

I'm very interested in the cleaning stuff! Anything that makes cleaning more pleasant is a winner in my book! :)

    Happy Thanksgiving, Stacy!

  10. ... and a happy Thanksgiving to you, all the way from Mexico! I've been trying to keep up with your posts but haven't commented in a while. What a fun drawing! Chocolate....mmmm. My favorite is Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Truffle Bar, but I love anything dark chocolate really. Don't know if you have Trader Joe's there or not.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'm feeling a bit sentimental and realizing how much my feelings about "the day" are tied to traditional things and cool fall weather. I think we're heading inland tomorrow to a little colonial town where we'll spend the night. Traditions aside, our hearts are full of thanks!
    Bless you!

  11. Ohhh! I love chocolate! The CD's sounds awesome too. I like dark almond chocolate but honestly I will take any kind :o)
    What fun!

  12. Oh fun! I love drawings. And I love chocolate. Scherffenberger Nibby Bars are my absolute favorite (http://scharffenberger.com/) but being a native Californian, I am loyal to See's as well (http://www.sees.com/home.cfm), particularly their Awesome Peanut Brittle Bar. Oh yum!

That wasn't too picky, was it??? :D

  13. Oh Stacy, Count me in! Bless you! Happy Thanksgiving to your beautiful family. Love, Tami

  14. What a wonderful drawing!

My favorite chocolate treat is Hersey's Almond Nuggets.

    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  15. Oh, FUN! Pick me, pick me! :) My favorite chocolate is Reese's peanut butter cups. Peanut butter and chocolate, what could be better? Happy Thanksgiving to you and your whole family, Stacy.

    Amy Crawford

  16. Happy Thanksgiving Stacy! Hope you're having a great week with your family.
Fun idea! I'm hoping to do a giveaway for my blogiversary... but may have to do a Christmas one, too. :)
My favorite chocolate?... Lindor is always good, but something homemade would be dandy... perhaps a sample of your favorite brownie recipe or chocolate chip cookies? :)
I may have to check out those CDs even if I don't win. I'm always looking for good scripture and worship songs for the whole family!

  17. PICK ME!
    PICK ME!
    PICK ME!
    PICK ME!
    PICK ME!

What a great idea! Plain old M&M's are great for me. Thanks for your generosity, Stacy!

  18. So does it count if I enter twice?! :)

  19. Oh I am so excited. I've been waiting for this ever since you told me you were going to give this cd away. The Mrs. Meyers and chocolate would just be a bonus for me! :-)

My favorite chocolate varies, but right now it's Lindor Extra Dark Chocolate Truffles in the black packages. I just love them and just one makes me feel like I've really had a great treat. Oh, my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

  20. What fun!

OK, so chocolate is good whatever kind it is! But my favorites are usually a combo of chocolate (milk OR dark) and caramel or chocolate and raspberry.

Thanks! I need to do this on MY blog!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  21. You are so sweet, Stacy! (and beautiful and kind and such a good mommy and wise beyond your years and... Can you tell I am buttering you up so you will *just happen to* pick me? hehe!
I love any chocolate with any kind of raspberry filling!

  22. Hi Stacy;

Cool...I've never heard the cd- so I hope to ;-)

The cleaning stuff sounds amazing! (I have heard of it, but never have tried any).

I'm not supposed to eat chocolate...hypoglycemia...but Godiva is my favorite (but hey, chocolate~its all very yummy!)

Have a wonderful celebration my dear sweet friend! hugs to you and smooches too!

  23. Hey, I would love to be entered into the drawing! I'm such a lurker - I read your blog regularly but don't think I've ever commented. You write beautifully and always encourage me.

I was wondering - I used to read Jewels Eyes of Wonder blog before it was closed. The music she had playing in the background was so great. I went to buy it once but it wasn't in the budget. Then, when I went back to find it again her blog was gone. All that to ask - do you happen to know who it was playing the piano music on her blog?

    Thanks for your blog!

  24. ohhh, I forgot to add my chocolate delight! I don't like chocolate - really I used to lie when I was little and tell people I was allergic! My hubby loves dark chocolate though . . .

  25. After your raves about the soap, you have me wanted to look for it! And I love lavender and music... and Scripture. Ok, er.... maybe I should have reversed the order on those loves. =)

  26. Stacy!! Okay, I'm giving this comment leaving a try again, for some reason I and my computer have trouble with it. I continue to enjoy your blog weekly and recently I've decided that I want to have chickens "just like Stacy and Mark do". How are they by the way?
My favorite chocolate is, well, any dark chocolate but I kind of like those orange flavored/shaped ones that you smash... do you know which ones I mean? The smashing is half the fun of it.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
    rebecca montgomery

  27. How fun, Stacy! Count me in?

    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! :)

  28. Oops... forgot to tell you my chocolate of choice... a good and simple ol' Hersey's milk choc. bar!

  29. Oh Stacy, I am laughing right now because really my favorite chocolate *ONLY* comes from Belgium...
I love how *real* you are Stacy.
Today, I am thanking God for you...
    Love, Carrie.

p.s. I am kidding about the chocolate from Belgium. My favorite chocolate is almond m&m's..
    Thank you!

  30. Hi Stacy! I have never heard of Seeds Family Worship. If I don't win I will definitely check them out!! We have almost worn out our Praise Baby CD's from continued use

    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  31. Oops. Sorry! Forgot about the chocolate...my fave is Lindor truffles. =)

  32. Stacy,
Should you happen to draw my name...I would prefer the type of chocolate that come in a Starbuck's Mocha with you sitting across from it!!!!

What a fun drawing...and I promise to only be mad for a day (or week) if you don't draw my name!!!

  33. Happy Thanksgiving, dear friend! Hope you all had a wonderful day. Thanks for your very sweet comment at my place today... brought tears to my eyes. I'm thankful for you too-- you're always such an encouragement to me.

    I'm in!

If I win, I would like a 42" plasma TV.

Oh wait, it's chocolate. Um, how about some dark chocolate espresso truffles?

Or maybe some chocolate body paint, to spice things up at our house? I think there's a store up there where you can get that.

    Dan (your favorite brother-in-law)

  40. Stacy,

I have been reading you blog for a while and actually wanting to comment for a while too, but I guess it takes the draw of free things to get me to actually do it. :)

All the other things I've been wanting to write you I guess I'll save for another time (along the lines of "thanks for the great idea" and "thanks for the encouragement"), so I'll just tell you for now that my chocolate of choice is Dove dark chcolate. Thanks!

  41. Aw, chocolate of ANY kind! :) It's ALL good! :)

  42. Stacy, I have been hearing that Seeds worship is wonderful! Please enter me in the drawing. I love dark chocolate and almonds!

    Thanks for your words.

  43. Drawing?! How'd I miss this entry? ;) I LOVE Mrs. Meyers stuff too! And I keep hearing about Seeds as well. Would love a chance to win. You're sweet, friend!

  44. What a fun drawing and adding chocolate to the gift? Well, it doesn't get any better than that!

Dark Chocolate caramels from Trader Joe's are my favorite but I don't think I've met a chocolate I didn't love!

    Thanks for the fun!

  45. I'm glad I got in on this one :) Sounds like fun. Favorite chocolate? I like it all. Chocolate with caramel though is probably my fav. If you pick me, you can send me YOUR favorite chocolate.

  46. Goodness. I remember reading this, but I had to scroll all the way through to see if I'd commented yet. I hadn't! Can you imagine? The very silliness!

Dark chocolate. With you holding it at my front door, thankyouverymuch. :)

Thank you for commenting! I love hearing from you, and I will do
my best to reply back to you in the comment section.
