Compassion bloggers

If you're not already reading the posts written by the Compassion bloggers, just what are you waiting for?

Start here. [My favorite post so far.]

And here. [I was especially touched by Melissa's words regarding sponsors at the end of this particular post.]

I'd love to hear from some of you who have a system in place for writing your sponsored child(ren). How often do you do this? Do you do it as a family? When do you do it? I need to set a time and make that happen.

  1. Pretty much all of their posts left me in tears. I am super excited to get started in the near future with sponsoring a child from Compassion. And one of the neat things is, I have this great friend here who grew up in India and now lives here with her husband, daughter, and in-laws. Their family and cultural traditions and their love for Jesus is so inspiring and so I have fallen in love with India.

I will let you know how our plan goes for this... in my mind, I picture us writing at least once a month, as a family (of course Elisa and eventually Anna could just draw a picture) on Saturday afternoons. We actually attend a Messianic church on Saturday mornings so we usually try to make Saturdays our day of rest and enjoy the time at home together.

Have you been doing this for awhile?

  2. Colleen,

I know. I'm loving all these posts, too. I keep shoving the laptop at Mark and making him read, too. :)

That's so neat that your love for India has been shaped by your friend. :)

I would LOVE to hear more about your Messianic church! (I've always wanted to attend a service!)
As for the sponsorship, Mark and I had a World Vision child for years until she grew out of the program. (But we weren't great about writing...:() And now our family sponsors a little five-year old girl from Ecuador. We have written her and sent pictures, but it's a little hit-and-miss.

My parents have this really cool tradition: every year @ Christmas they add a new sponsored child. By now they have a huge bulletin board full of all of their children. I would love to be able to do the same at some point in our lives.

  3. Stacy,
Just found your site. Going to stay a while, jump in and splash in God's goodness. Thanks for the book lists (as a missionary homeschoolin' momma this helps a bunch).

    Blessings from Costa Rica,
    Sarah

I peeked in at your blog, too- though I must have been interrupted because I don't remember leaving a comment.
    Blessings to you today!
