Beginning
A sweet baby girl (5 weeks) was placed with us today.
She was removed from her home due to neglect.
This placement was via the state, so it is a temporary, emergency placement. This little one isn't on the foster-to-adopt track. She'll be here with us for... we're not sure how long... 45 days was mentioned, 90 days was also mentioned... but then we know that could change at any moment. It could be 3 days.
And now I'm off to check on Mark, who is rocking her to sleep.
I hope you all had a wonderful day!

Oh Stacy....
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful for your family and that this sweet little baby has a place in your home for this time...
Hi Stacy! My sister, Quinne had suggested I come by & read what your family has been going through in regards to fostering/adoption. Our family is considering this route as well. What an encouragement to read what you've shared here! Thank you so much for laying bare all the ups & downs of walking this path. I know it will be a blessing as we prayerfully try to discern God's desire for our family. Congratulations on your new arrival. Temporary or not, children are such a blessing...I'll be back. :)
ReplyDeleteI have tears in my eyes over the thought that this sweet baby has a safe place to be. Enjoy her as I'm sure you will!!
ReplyDeleteHowever long, it will be long enough to care for this little one and show her the love you have for her and your God. She is a blessed little girl today! Have a wonderful time!!

I still get teary at the thought of this little baby being loved by some of the best love-givers I know! God's care for her to place her in your home is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI am excited too for all that I am sure the Lord has planned to do in your lives as a result of your caring for this sweet girl.
Love you!
I don't know why I'm crying, but I'm just so glad that you're being obedient to God's call on your family. That little girl may never remember your name, but I know that your love and care will not go unnoticed.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Stacy! What a blessing your family will be to this sweet baby girl.
ReplyDeleteA bit of unsolicited advice- :)
While she is not foster-adopt right now, it's not unlikely that she will be some day. When she goes home, make sure the social worker knows you want to be contacted as a resource if she ever comes back into care again. Also, take a lot of photos and make her a little album so this period of her life doesn't go unaccounted for - see if the social worker can put the pages in her file so they can "go with her". In fact, make copies of the pages and keep a set if you have the ability to do so. That way if she ever becomes a permanent part of your family, you'll have that, and if she is someday adopted by another family, you can give them that beautiful gift.
SO happy for you! Enjoy this time!
I'm so glad she will be loved by you and your family. I know that no matter how long she is with you, the love she will receive will have an impact on her entire life.

I get so teary just thinking about the blessing that you, Mark & your family will be to this little baby...for whatever length of time it may be. Not to mention the blessings for you...I know those arms of yours are LOVING it!!!
