  2. As you may have read in my blog recently, we love us some twirly skirts. I may just have to try that one (with help from my seamstress-y aunt, that is!).

  15. I am in awe. I have high hopes of learning to quilt someday, but...um...as of today, the last time I touched a sewing machine was in the seventh grade. So...I'm in awe.

  16. Perfect projects for those rainy day's?! For the record I wasn't whining about the rain, but we've seriously gotten day's and buckets of it. I was born in Tacoma, and spent many a summer, rainy wet cold summer's up there in what Dad likes to refer to as God's country. In fact, I was up there 3 summer's ago and I froze! Laugh all you want - here or there, this or that much rain is enough! At least for me and my house - we will seek the sun! ;)
BTW, you are gettin' stuff done when you can sit and sew. Sometimes we have to make a trade off. Pick up that pile right now? Or make a memory and build a skill. You chose the right priority in my book. Can't say that of my self.

  19. I enjoy sewing, but need *very simple* projects. My seamstress-friend was just saying the other day how she thought I could totally make a twirly skirt for my little Audrey. I'm so excited to try this tutorial! And it guides me step by step!-even better!

And the aprons are great! I had an old one that I made in High School HomEc that I passed on to my Jaedon (http://stephanie-fishoutofwater.blogspot.com/2008/01/new-cook-in-house.html), but Audrey needs one and you have inspired me to take the plunge and make her one soon!

  20. Lisa,
The tea towel aprons were so easy I'm almost embarrassed to tell you.
I just folded them in half, lengthwise, and then cut through the two layers to make it look apron-y at the top. :) Easy.

  21. OH. Well, then I hemmed the sides and sewed on ribbon (for Ella), bias tape (for the boys) for the neck and ties...

  22. I love that you are finally getting into this sewing thing more. I always knew you'd be good at it. You are so creative and crafty. Still waiting for you to make something for me. I'm sure there's some Steelers fabric online somewhere.

    Loving you, Mark
